Project management team supports schools with backlog of projects

With over 375 schools and growing, Clark County School District (CCSD) in Southern Nevada has one of the largest school districts in the country to operate and maintain. OCMI’s Las Vegas project management team came on board in 2023 to support the district’s site-funded project program. This program is outside the district’s maintenance and construction management departments and focuses on projects requested and funded by individual schools to enhance the student experience. Our team manages projects ranging from installing a single intercom in a classroom to turf replacement and stadium press boxes, managing anywhere from 10-30+ projects at any one time.

OCMI’s project managers work directly with school administrators at multiple campuses throughout the County. Our team completes the required CCSD forms, solicits preliminary budget information from pre-qualified contractors, defines project scope, and submits information to the school for budgetary and school board approval. Upon acceptance, our team manages the construction process from bid solicitation through final punch walk and close-out.

School work order requests are distributed amongst the OCMI and CCSD site-funded project managers. During our first 15 months working with CCSD, OCMI’s project managers have completed more than 300 of the over 700 work orders initiated. This has alleviated the backlog of open work orders CCSD had been experiencing for many years.

OCMI has provided consulting services for CCSD for the past 20+ years. Our services cover scheduling, cost estimating, constructability review, change order review, value engineering, and construction management services. We have supported CCSD’s 2015 $1.5B bond program with program-level scheduling, cost estimating, contractor reconciliation, and value engineering.
