OCMI provided cost estimating services to the architect from programming through construction documents for the architect in support of approximately $7M in renovations for Maple Lawn Elementary School. The facility is a circa 1950s building that underwent several small patching and upgrade renovations over the decades. OCMI supported the design team in developing cost estimates for 60+ potential renovation scope components. From that, the owner and AE team developed a complete scope for further design development.

Throughout the design process, OCMI provided updated cost estimates, which maintained scope component breakouts to aid DISD in tracking comparative cost tracking while still formulating a complete bid package. The renovation includes complete finish replacements, substantial HVAC and plumbing system upgrades, as well as architectural and building envelope improvements.

The large-scale renovation was released for general contractor bid, and OCMI’s final cost estimate was within 3.18% of the accepted price.
